,,State captured” in North Macedonia – judiciary, prosecution, police

Coalition “All for fair trials” will implement the project ,,State captured” in North Macedonia – judiciary, prosecution, police with the financial support of “Open Society Foundation Macedonia”. The project leader is Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) from Skopje, and the Coalition “All for fair trials”, Institute for Human Rights (IHR) and the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights (MHC) appear as project partners.

Duration: April 2019 – April 2020

The aim of the project is to identify, through various case studies and monitoring, the implementation of legislation, the ways in which political control over institutions (the judiciary, the prosecution, the police) is exercised, or the ways in which the systemic weaknesses of the rule of law are abused


Desk research on the causes and new forms of political interference in the judiciary, the police and the public prosecution
Monitoring and analysis of court cases
Journalistic research, requirements for access to public information and interviews required for research stories
Advocacy activities to implement recommendations to domestic and international stakeholders:
